Together We Give: Support Move for Mind On Giving Tuesday

Nov 30, 2021

Move for Mind is proud to announce the official launch of its 2021 Year-End Campaign on Giving Tuesday, November 30th. Each year on Giving Tuesday, people around the world support causes and organizations close to their hearts.

Giving Tuesday was first conceived in 2012 when the 92nd Street Y in New York City and the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C. came together and decided to celebrate the idea of generous giving and philanthropy during the holiday season. With buy-ins from many corporate and nonprofit leaders quickly joining, and with the help of social media (and the hashtag #GivingTuesday), the day was a huge success. The 2,500 nonprofit organizations that participated in that inaugural Giving Tuesday raised $10.1 million that day!

Since then, Giving Tuesday has continued to grow as more and more nonprofit organizations, corporations, foundations, and individuals get involved each year. In 2020, GivingTuesday reports total giving at $2.47 billion through 75 different GivingTuesday movements across the country and world. It’s become more than just a day of giving… it’s become a global movement that calls for generosity and action for good.

In addition to the start of this campaign, Giving Tuesday also brings the launch of Move for Mind’s rebrand; new mission, vision, and values; website update; and 2022 Strategic Plan with a set of priorities and goals for the organization.

Move for Mind’s mission is “Through running, we advocate, educate, and inspire for better mental health." That's the mission Move for Mind lives by. Move for Mind’s vision is a world where more people are inspired to use running as a tool to improve their mental health. Move for Mind will pave the way in the creation of flexible, engaging, and empowering programming in order to provide a supportive community, open conversation, and lasting collaboration to ensure the continued success of their mission.

Move for Mind’s goal on Giving Tuesday is to raise $1,000 from 30 supporters—a portion of Move for Mind’s overall goal of $5,000. Donations to Move for Mind will support our work in achieving our 2022 Strategic Plan, which includes implementing youth education and community outreach programming.
